Meet Captain Raymond Dehn and Salty Veterans Fishing Charters

Captain Ray grew up fishing the inshore waters of Citrus County, Florida. As a Native to Citrus County, Captain Ray has grown to know the waters of Crystal River like the back of his hand. He has spent much of his life dedicated to learning everything there is to know about inshore fishing in Florida. From fishing for Snook using artificial lures to catching massive Redfish using live shrimp, Ray is a master of it all. After spending 10 years serving in the US Army with two deployments Ray came back eager to share his love for these waters with other anglers. Captain Ray launched Salty Vets Fishing Charters six years ago and has been helping his guests create long lasting memories on fishing charters and scalloping tours in Crystal River ever since. He loves taking out both novice anglers and seasoned pros because he finds there is always something that can be taught or learned about fishing in Florida. Additionally, to show his appreciation for fellow veterans, Captain Ray offers discounted veterans trips for guests that have served in the military.

You’ll be fishing on his beautiful 2019 19' Cape Craft boat which can accommodate up to 4 guests(6 for scallop trips). It is powered by a 115HP Suzuki engine with a maximum cruising speed of 30 mph. This inshore fishing boat is made to suit the shallow water, and the wireless trolling motor it has makes it super quiet in order not to spook the fish. It is also equipped with a GPS.

Salty Vets Fishing Charters loves every species of fish that swims in Crystal River’s waters. Capt. Raymond spent years figuring out the best tactics to catch these fish. Snook, Redfish, Trout, Grouper and the list goes on! The type of fish you will be targeting on your trip depends on the season and of course your preference.

He also offers scalloping trips, which can best be described as an underwater treasure hunt. So much fun for kids! Experience is not necessary and you are sure to reach the 2.5 gallons per person limit

Captain Raymond will provide you with fishing equipment, rods, reels, tackle, live and artificial baits, a fishing license, and will gladly clean and fillet your catch so you can take it home for a great meal. All that you will need to bring is your food and drinks for the trip.
